Career Opportunities

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

Rwanda Business Development Center-Country Director

Do you have a mind for business and a heart for the world?  We have a unique Kingdom Business/BAM opportunity for a highly motivated entrepreneurial individual.

We are looking for a dynamic leader to take a highly successful Business Development Center (BDC) to the next level by building on two years of success and seizing untapped opportunities. The Rwanda BDC is a specialized training and consulting organization in Kigali, Rwanda. The vision of the BDC is to launch and grow hundreds of Kingdom businesses in Rwanda and to influence the Rwandan marketplace with Kingdom business principles.

The BDC’s programs currently consist of (1) a well-established entrepreneur development program, including a 14-week action-learning training program coupled with a rich menu of support services, and (2) a fledgling corporate business training and consulting division for East African companies and governmental organizations.

The BDC, which launched in August 2010, is having a tremendous impact in Rwanda. About half of our 160 alumni have active businesses, and some of their companies are national leaders in their sectors. That success has earned the BDC high credibility throughout Kigali, from government ministers to senior executives in Rwanda’s largest companies to pastors of the largest evangelical churches.  We have conducted several well-attended seminars and trainings for prominent public and private sector organizations.

Right now, the BDC is poised to capitalize on its outstanding reputation and initial successes in training.    Thus we are looking for a Kingdom-minded to serve as the BDC Country Director.  Success in this role would include:

  • Graduating 100-150 high-potential entrepreneurs annually who either grow existing businesses or launch significant businesses that provide life-improving products and services and rewarding jobs while modeling Christian ethics.
  • Capitalizing on consulting opportunities by building a portfolio of training and consulting clients from among Rwanda’s premier private and public sector organizations, and by developing local training and consulting talent.
  • Evaluating and developing promising new mission-driven opportunities, such as developing an investment banking function and attracting international business clients who need “doing business in” consulting services.
  • Generating combined program revenues to cover BDC expenses and maintain modest profitability.

The following are qualifications for the job:

  • Understands and has practiced kingdom business.
  • Able to interact with top government and business leaders with confidence.
  • Strategic thinker who assesses situations quickly and develops compelling solutions.
  • Is able to assess organizations’ needs, construct tailored training and consulting packages, and close sales.
  • Evaluate talent, attract top performers, cast vision to motivate them, and, through personal modeling, develop them as highly effective servant leaders.
  • Establish rapport with people of different cultures, languages, education, and backgrounds.
  • Negotiate win-win strategic alliances and partnerships.
  • Balanced temperament – high energy and perseverance.

Daily Responsibilities and Reporting Relationships

  • Spokesperson in Rwanda for the BDC.
  • Chief marketing officer of BDC, developing and implementing strategy.
  • Chief operating officer of BDC, managing all operations of the BDC.
  • Developing local training and consulting talent.
  • Overseeing our current staff (3 direct reports) and coordinating volunteers. (More than 30 visiting executives participated in the program over the last two years.)
  • Reports to John Mulford, Managing Director of the BDC.

The BDC is a joint venture between the Regent University Center for Entrepreneurship, the International Christian Chamber of Commerce, and the Government of Rwanda.  The Country Director will reside in Kigali, Rwanda for at least six months of the year.
